Downtown Hayward at night

Safe Streets Downtown is a City of Hayward initiative to transform the Hayward Loop to create a safer, more accessible and community-focused Downtown—and we want you to help.

The project team has established a Safe Streets Downtown project website where you can sign up for updates and share your specific Downtown safety concerns. The team also will be present at upcoming events and will reach out to community organizations to gather information and feedback.

Safe Streets Downtown will create a community-preferred design and safety plan for Downtown streets that make up the Loop (Foothill Boulevard, A Street, Mission Boulevard) and those that link to it (B and C Streets).

The plan, which will take 18 months to complete, is in its Phase 1 information-gathering period, during which the City is seeking input on safety issues on our Downtown Streets from residents, visitors and businesses.

This initial round of input will help form a set of potential options for the Loop and connecting streets by fall of this year. Please visit the project website or say hello to the outreach team at an upcoming event to help get the project rolling.
