The Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is continuing to invite Hayward community input on development plans for agency properties around and across B Street from the downtown Hayward BART station.

The properties planned for development are the surface parking lot and driveway to the station garage on the west side of the station, a vacant lot on the north side between A, B and Montgomery streets, and the passenger and bus loading areas and designated parking for people with disabilities on the east side of the station.

BART and City of Hayward land-use planning for the area generally calls for transit-oriented, mixed-income residential development with ground-floor commercial spaces and other amenities. Development of the site east of the station would incorporate and preserve loading areas and parking for people with disabilities.

To learn more about the project and provide input go to this Transit-Oriented Development at the Hayward Station page on the BART website. There, you will find a link to a survey through which you can provide feedback. The survey will be open until May 15.

Next, BART and City staff plan to deliver a presentation of the project goals, a summary of public input received thus far and anticipated next steps at public meetings of the Hayward City Council Economic Development Committee on June 1 and Council Infrastructure Committee on June 24.
