HAYWARD, Calif., On August 22, 2026 at approximately 11:53 P.M., officers responded to the report of a fight in progress at a business located near the 300 block of Winton Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 42-year-old adult male unconscious and not breathing, with trauma to his head. A witness was performing CPR on the victim when officers arrived. Officers took over lifesaving efforts until relieved by Hayward Fire Department personnel. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to next of kin and formal identification protocols by the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau.

There is currently no one in custody in connection with this incident, and officers are actively investigating leads.
