Apply for a neighborhood improvement grant
The Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program gives neighbors the resources to work together to complete projects that improve the safety, cleanliness, and beauty of their neighborhoods. Through the program, the City awards grant funding to community-driven neighborhood projects. Neighborhood associations, volunteer groups, and other organizations can apply to fund projects that are important to their neighborhoods and the Hayward community as a whole.
To be eligible for grant funding, your project must:
- Benefit all residents of the greater neighborhood — private property improvements will not be funded
- Meet minimum safety requirements
- Comply with all existing City laws and policies
- Be unique — projects that duplicate existing programs are not eligible for funding
Grant awards ranging between $50 and $5000 are available to community projects on a first-come, first-served basis. Projects that have received grant funding include an installation of exercise equipment along Mission Boulevard, emergency preparedness training and supplies for mobile home residents, and a community garden tool shed project.
